Ingredients

Serves : 6
  • Pointed gourd/parwal - 1 Kg


  • Black mustard - 50 Gms


  • Dry mango powder (amchor powder) - 2 Tbsp


  • Red chilly powder - 1 Tbsp


  • Turmeric powder - 1 Tsp


  • Black salt - 1 Tbsp


  • Salt -1 pinch to taste


  • Mustard oil - 1/2 Cup

Directions

  • Clean pointed gourd very gently and make a slit in the middle but don't cut it in two pieces
  • Boil water in steamer/ idly stand / momo maker or in a large pot
  • While using pot keep strainer on its mouth,Put all Pointed gourd on it and steam for 10 minutes with lid on medium heat
  • Make powder form mustard seeds
  • Prepare masala mix in a bowl, Add mustard powder,black salt,dry mango powder,red chilly powder, kashmiri chilly powder, turmeric powder, common salt and 1 tbsp oil together and mix well
  • Take out pointed gourd pieces from strainer / steamer,Keep it in a tray and let it dry in fan for another 1/2 hour
  • Take out rest of oil in a bowl,Now fill little - little masala in every piece
  • Just coat oil on each pointed gourd and keep it in a jar,Sprinkle rest of masala on the top
  • Pour rest of oil inside the bottle
  • Keep this jar in sunlight for one day without lid
  • Now close lid and keep it in fridge
  • This pickle will last for one month, Enjoy it whenever you want
